Our San Felipe Model Ship 37" model is an exclusive edition of the San Felipe, where the model is uniquely identified by a laser cut hull serial number.  To recapture the beauty of the original ship into the model, the most exotic wood available, and the highest quality brass fittings possible were used to build this remarkable replica.

She is handcrafted from high quality wood such as rosewood, ebony and mahogany.  These materials were transformed into art pieces by the skillful hand of the master craftsmen. If you look closely, you can see an evenly smooth surface of wood on the hull. It was done more beautifully then most pieces of fine furniture.  From the bow to the stern, you can see hundreds of shiny brass fittings and cannons. Wood pieces of different shades and colors are carefully selected and used to create an impressive look.

On the ship, notice the fine details such as wooden bowsprit, the different masts that are all connected to numerous fabric sails with detailed stitching; all rigging are fastened by hand in matching colors.  Notice the sculpted metal in front of the ship, the small wooden cabin, wooden boats on deck, stairs leading to the upper deck, fences and railings, beautifully crafted metal cannons on both side of the hull, and other crafted metal parts in the front and back area of the ship.

The stern is the most decorated area with hundreds of small brass ornaments, brass railing, figurines and lanterns. You will more than likely be falling in love with the art work on the different decks of this model. All decks are done by putting together many rectangular small wooden pieces. There are round shape stairs connected the main deck and the forecastle deck. The main deck is also equipped with a couple of life boats, which even come with their own paddles. And then there are the skylight, ship bell, and ship wheel…etc.

Brass fittings, and elaborate ornaments reflect San Felipe's historic reputation for beauty; a clear varnish coating completes the fine detail.  Her delicate ornate decoration gives her a remarkable presence.

Our San Felipe Model Ship, spanish is completely hand built by skillful and creative master craftsmen. The hull is constructed using a "plank on frame" method.  This San Felipe model was built scale down 1/75 based on original plan.  We absolutely use no plastic parts, only the highest quality wood and metal parts. History:

First launched in 1690, the San Felipe was easily one of the most impressive ships of the Spanish Armada. As Spain's lead ship during the 17th century, the San Felipe displaced over 1000 tons and was armed with 96 cannons, making her as one of the most capable fighters in the European Sea. San Felipe's role in the fight against Britain and France was to aid in the defense of Spanish settlements and harbors while transporting goods, and to safeguard the hazardous journey back to the Spanish ports from these colonies.

In the year 1705, the San Felipe participated in an epic battle where 12 Spanish vessels and 35 British ships fought for 24 full hours. Captured by an English ship, but so badly damaged that she could not be salvaged, the San Felipe capsized, plummeting to the depths of the sea with several tons of gold on board. The San Felipe possessed a slim profile and broad sails that allowed her great agility. San Felipe's beauty was pronounced by various intricately designed sculptures adorning her stern.
